Big Top Jay

Big Top Jay

And a little Carney shall lead them…

The circus is in full swing at the White House. After putting out enrollment figures for Obamacare, Major Garret questions Carney about validity. Carney replies, “I never said that.” Garret reads Carney’s exact words from a press conference not days before. Methinks Jay has lost control of the Big Top.

I WILL BREAK YOU!

I WILL BREAK YOU!

Do you know who I am!

NY Congressman Michael Grimm (R) does a live TV interview at the conclusion of the State of the Union speech. Grimm gets upset. Grimm threatens to “break the reporter in half like a little boy” and “toss him over the railing” of the 2nd floor in the capital building. All this on live TV. Awesome. He later goes on Fox (of course) to say he lost his composure. Really? REALLY?

State of the State of the Union

It’s bad folks. I mean it’s really bad. The State of the Union speech has become a joke. First of all there is no requirement for the Pres to give a speech. It can just be submitted in writing. President Woodrow Wilson brought us the permanent speech giving. Jefferson had refused to do it during his two terms. We need to take Tom’s cue. It’s a complete farce. Black is beautiful… unless we’re talking Santa or Jesus

Fox News’ Megyn Kelly has serious discussion about the whiteness of Santa and Jesus. She comforts the kids by assuring them that Santa is in fact a white man. She takes to the air 3 days later to defend herself from the enormous amount of mockery she’s getting on social media, MSNBC, CNN, etc… No worries folks, she was just kidding.

Hey, look at that! They are both white!

No Jay, It’s still about Benghazi

grima

I shall stop lying when you stop asking me questions.

On September 11, 2012, the Libyan embassy was attacked and four Americans murdered, including Ambassador Christopher Stephens.

On September 16, Susan Rice appeared on CBS’s Face the Nation and stated that “we do not have information at present that leads us to conclude that this [attack] was premeditated or preplanned.” She said it was a spontaneous attack resulting from some YouTube video.

On January 23 2013, Hillary Clinton in a Senate hearing about Benghazi, denied seeing any memo that the embassy was at risk. In a response to Senator Ron Johnson, inquiring about the misleading information, Clinton said:

“The fact is we had four dead Americans, was it because of a protest or was it some guys that went out for a walk some night and decided they would kill some Americans, what difference, at this point, does it make?  It is our job to figure out what happened so that we can prevent it from ever happening again.”

Which is what they were trying to find out by asking you questions, which, apparently, you then lied about.

Reporter Catherine Herridge obtained a memo dated 16 August 2012, from the Libyan Embassy, stating that Al Qaeda was there in the area, that they were worried about an attack, and that they couldn’t withstand an attack. It also stated that the Libyan Brigade tasked with defending the embassy was infiltrated. Herridge has said there the memo was addressed to the head of the state department (Hillary Clinton at the time).

In a press conference that was held on Friday, James Rosen was asking about a memo that circulated on September 10, 2012 that steps were being taken to assure protection of U.S. personnel and assets. Rosen asked if other emails or memos regarding this would be released. Carney responded by stating that they were engaged in the exchange simply as fodder for Fox News.

Jay Carney: “And I would simply say, when it comes to — and I know that we’re creating an exchange here for Fox and I’m mindful of that, but allow me to suggest that questions about the posturing of defense forces are usually better addressed at the Pentagon.”

James Rosen: “My question to you, Jay, is, first of all, what we’re engaged in here is not for Fox. It’s for the record. And the fact that the posturing was such that it made remedy or rescue in that situation impossible is not a conclusion solely of the House Armed Services Committee or Republicans; it’s a self-evident fact. source.”

Well, Jay, the White House’s war with Fox News not with-standing, millions of Americans still watch the channel. Thirteen months after the incident and we’re still peeling back the issue trying to work through this administration’s lies and found out why an American Embassy was attacked and personnel killed.  At best, it’s just plain incompetence.  But, it’s always the cover-up that gets you.

You shouldn’t dodge the issue by blaming the people asking the questions.

Carney ended the press conference by saying:  “James, I think we’re done here.”

Which after their initial lie, has been the administration’s response to anything about Benghazi

The most transparent administration in history.

Obamacare: I was for it before I was against it.

imagesLet me start out by saying I am completely in favor of socialized medicine.  I believe this is the greatest nation on the earth and as such we should be able to provide healthcare to everybody in it. The country that is not the earth, although that would be grand.  I’m completely baffled by people who spend their energy boasting, sometimes angrily, about the greatness of this country and yet think the country is unable to do such a great thing.  What’s the point of being great?  I’ll guess we’ll now debate what a great thing is.  The other baffler is why would the greatest nation in the world providing healthcare for every one of it’s citizens be such a bad thing?

Lesser nations do it.  Canada, Australia, Great Britain, all provide healthcare to the entirety of its populace.  Canada and Australia largely escaped the recession too.  Their healthcare systems didn’t tank or cause their financial system to tank.  And yeah, I said it, those are lesser nations.

Anyway, I’m all for universal, socialized, communist health care.  The problem is Obamacare or the Affordable Care Act is not socialized healthcare.  It really isn’t health care at all.  It has ultimately become a gateway for insurance companies to raise rates, even though they don’t have to.  Folks, again you’ve been tricked by the media, right and left wing branches.  Once again they’ve dangled a squirrel and we have gleefully taken the distraction bait.  The villains here are the insurance companies.  They have no need to raise the rates but they can under the guise of Obamacare. The law is the problem no doubt, the hen house door left unlocked as it were.  The insurance companies are the all too willing foxes.  The fox doesn’t need to go into the hen house. It’s a wild animal and preys on other wild animals.  But the hen house is easy money.  Unlocked, it’s defenseless.  It requires no investment and comes with a huge payoff.  The gift that keeps on giving.

The farmer charged with protecting the hen house is the guy who left the lock off. And he did it on purpose.

For those struggling to keep up with my labored analogy, the President is the farmer in this scenario.

President Obama wrote a great law and then in order to get it through the Congress and create some mythical legacy he allowed it to be watered down into this abomination called the Affordable Care Act.  He then spent every nickel of his political capitol pushing it through.  What came out the other end of the sausage grinder was not fit for human consumption, literally.  The original was a law that went from single payer with a government option that would have actually covered every American, to this bizarre law that is so f*&^ed up it’s been rolled out in pieces and most of it has been delayed.  It’s a bill that is causing the layoff of workers and the cutting back of full time employees to part-time.  This cut back was predicted by the conservatives and poo pooed by the liberals.

Well I’m a liberal, hence my belief in healthcare for all, and I can tell you the cutting back of full time workers to part-timers is so vast and so deep some economists believe the 40 hour work week may be a memory in 5 – 10 years.  Gang, that is light speed in politics and public policy.

Hey O, what's a matta, you law no work?

Hey Mr Pres, what’s a matta, you law no work?

So as another big hunk of the ACA gets held up, coincidentally, the part that would regulate insurance prices, the apologizers and deniers have gone on the offensive.  That would of course be the Democrats who defended this law.  They have to, I mean since they’re the dopes who mangled it to the current garbage we have now.

Still, the apologies and denials are, well to overuse a word, baffling.

Congresswoman and Democratic Party Chair Debi Wasserman Shultz (D) FL, went on the Sunday talk shows to say this is what they had expected all along and it’s not news.  Really Debi, so just another made up scandal is it?  Even my son Frank, pictured above left, knows that’s a load of bulls#*t.

Then the MSNBC crew fired up their Klingon cloaking device in a vain attempt to cover for the President.

Karen Finney, host of Disrupt on MSNBC weekends, said with a straight face that the President had already told us the bill would be rolled out in parts and some things may take time to iron out.  Two things here Karen: 1. No he didn’t and 2. that’s not how laws work.  Once voted on by congress and signed by the President they are considered law. Implementation date may be pushed to the start of the next calendar year or even the next fiscal year, which for government agencies is usually Oct 1st.  You certainly can’t brake a law up by saying, well we’re not sure how to implement this so forget it for another year, or my favorite, we can’t afford this part yet so 2015 looks good.  You can catch the genius known as Ms Finney on MSNBC between To Catch a Predator and Locked Up marathons.

Union presidents have gone on the Sunday shows to complain that they are finding out they won’t be able to keep the insurance they have.  Still the liberals say it’s all bluster, all to scare the American people against the first black president.  Mika, a co-host on Morning Joe (also MSNBC) all but said those exact words.  In case you were wondering, the unions backed Obama and the democrats in 08 and 2012 and are traditionally liberal.

The cake topper was the early afternoon weekday show on MSNBC.  I’m not even sure of the name or the host, but they had the republican congressman from Oklahoma’s 5th district, James Lankford.  The panel was debating scare tactics being used by republicans in regards to ACA.  You know stuff like layoffs, hours being cut etc…  Mr. Lankford told the panel his district has seen a lot of layoffs but even more disturbing were the amount of businesses cutting hours and migrating to a part time schedule for the bulk if not the entirety of its workforce.

Of course the panel, being in New York and not in the 5th district, felt they had a better handle on the situation on the ground in Oklahoma than the congressman, who was doing the interview from his district not Capital Hill.  They all but called him a liar, so deep is their denial of this law’s disastrous effects.  But that pesky Mr Lankford had to go all facty on them, naming businesses and showing stats and relaying personal stories he had heard all to prove what he and a lot of us already knew.

Conservatives got this one right.

The law sucks and the American middle class will bear the burden.  Oh didn’t I mention the other piece of the bill being delayed, the mandatory health care provision for corporations.  Meaning big businesses and corporations won’t have to provide coverage for all it’s employees yet.  Small business will still have to implement according to the mandate.  Seems that part of the bill has some problems and implementation is impossible for bigger businesses at the moment.  That bit about Pelosi saying pass it then we’ll figure it out, yeah not going so well.  Turns out losing the game and then working on your game plan just doesn’t get it done.

Denier-in-Chief

Denier-in-Chief WH Spokesman Jay Carney

But you know the apologists and deniers said we had been told this would be coming so it’s not, you know, like a news story or anything, just a, you know, plot to discredit the black President.

I would laugh if that last sentence weren’t the true belief of the liberals and progressives still clinging to the mantra this President can do no wrong, simply because he’s black.

News flash amigos, Presidents mess up, write bad laws, make dumb decisions regardless of their skin color.  All the white ones messed up and now the black one has too.  Saying so doesn’t make you a hater, it makes you an American.

I’m a liberal and this law is an insult to every President who has ever written a law, so yeah, all of them.

I’m also an American and my President messed up.

Scandals? Nope, move along now, nothing to see here.

barney-fife-1

Move along, now, nothing to see here. Gonna nip this in the bud!

There are a few issues going on in our country now. A whole lot, actually, but three big ones, specifically.  I’m sure you’ve heard of them.

  • Benghazi
  • The IRS scandal
  • The NSA Scandal and security leaks

These issues are not uncomplicated. Associated with these issues are reports of facts suppressed over the Benghazi incident and a continuing unraveling of the IRS scandal.  After it was initially reported that it only occurred in the Cincinnati office, it’s been tied back to Washington.

Regarding the NSA incident, James Clapper, the Director of the National Intelligence, recently apologized to Congress for giving a “clearly erroneous” answer to a question regarding the governments collecting data on Americans. To interpret, a “clearly erroneous” answer to a question is what my mother would have called a lie. Yep, I’m going to remember that “clearly erroneous” phrase.

ap_james_clapper_kb_130702_16x9_608

James “Clearly Erroneous” Clapper. That is not his sexting name.

This post is not about these issues, specifically, but about the administration’s current response to them.

However, um, in the words of Ron Burgundy, these things are “kind of a big deal.” Yet, apparently our current administration doesn’t think so.

jay carney

Let’s be clear. These issues are this big. Let’s get to the really important stuff, which is….something other than this.

In a press conference last week, and in a TV interview with MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, Jay Carney said these issues were “Phony scandals” and “Fake scandals.”  When called out on those comments by Scarborough, Carney’s response was essentially, “The President has appointed someone to take care of it and we should move on.”

Apparently, this is going to be the administration’s response to how they are going to handle these issues that are plaguing their administration, and our country.

With everything that’s going on, Obama has decided to go on a campaign tour about the economy.   As part of his address, he said “”With an endless parade of distractions, political posturing and phony scandals, Washington has taken its eye off the ball.”  It’s honestly hard to believe that this is what he said.

The self-professed most transparent administration in history has decided “there’s nothing to see here.”

Obama: I won’t ‘twiddle my thumbs’ waiting for GOP

The dumbest bumper sticker I ever saw, and the 1st amendment

bumperstick

Azz kickin bumper sticks….

When I lived in Dayton several years ago, there was a little town several miles away called Yellow Springs. Yellow Springs is what would’ve been called a hippie town back in the day. Little shops with odd stuff, a lot of incense, you know that kind of thing. I went there one Saturday morning to talk a walk, look around. I had parked on the street, and when I went back to my car to leave, a different car had parked in front of me. That’s when I saw it. The dumbest bumper sticker I ever saw.

It was a simple white bumper sticker with plain black letters that said “One man against violence against women.”

When I first saw it I thought “huh?” I contemplated waiting around to see what the driver looked like and finally decided I didn’t want to know.

I understand bumper stickers that express a point of view. You know, like “Right to choose” or “Right to life” or “Guns kill people” or “You can have my gun when you pry it out of my cold dead fingers.” The idea here being that these examples express opinions….when a relevant opposite opinion exists.

So, a bumper sticker that says “One man against violence against women”, to me, is kind of like having a bumper sticker that says “I’m against murder.”  In other words, you’re expressing a sentiment for which there is no reasonable opposite sentiment. What’s the point? Of course I’m against violence against women, is anyone for it? Of course it happens, but would anyone support a sentiment for it? “I’m for violence against women” No, I don’t think so.

I would even understand a bumper sticker supporting an ordinance, law, or legislation for or against something. You know, like “protect women from violence, support prop 18.” But to just say “One man against violence against women” is ignorant to me. It does, however, make me curious about the motivation one would have to place such a sticker on your vehicle. Like, “Ok, I’ve slapped a few women around and I’m trying to remind myself its bad.” But hey, we all the right to free speech, eh?!

obama-agx-inset-community

Hey, start telling people how much you love the 1st amendment, k?

So, I was reminded of this story May 17th watching a press conference with Presidential press secretary Jay Carney when he answered a question by saying “This president believes in the first amendment and is a strong defender of the first amendment.” Reference

I’m trying to imagine an answer different than this. You know, like “Well, the president likes the first amendment, but…doesn’t feel it’s a real necessity.” Or any politician saying anything like “well, you know, the first is alright, not really my favorite though.”

Or course I’m being facetious.

In an article titled “Holder meeting: more substance than charm?” (reference) regarding Eric Holders “meeting” with members of the press in an off-the-record meeting:

Holder invited news organizations to meet with him as part of a review of the Justice Department’s guidelines for leak investigations. The offer of meetings became controversial-due to the department’s insistence the sessions be off-the-record– and some organizations, including CNN, Fox News, The New York Times, the Associated Press and Reuters, refused to attend the sessions citing the restriction in the midst of an ongoing news story.

Several news organizations, including the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, Politico and ABC News, decided to attend the meetings on Thursday and Friday. (The Justice Department late in the day Thursday authorized invited organizations to bring their attorneys.)

In the article, Reid Weingarten, the high-powered Washington attorney and Eric Holder’s friend, says:

“It is this agonizing dilemma you have in national security cases…you’re obliged to investigate them aggressively,” Weingarten says. But he also tells CNN that “Eric has always been a real First Amendment guy…the question is where do you draw the line.”

A real first amendment guy? What does that mean? Where do you draw the line? Really?

The self-described “transparent administration” is defending their love of the 1st amendment. You know, while they investigate reporters and then have “closed-door, off the record” meetings with them to explain themselves.

Who…..The IRS? Nope never heard of them…..

alfred_e_newman

What, me worry? Nope, I didn’t even know about it.

I think it might be time to re-familiarize ourselves with an old concept.

From Wikipedia:

Plausible deniability is a term coined by the CIA during the Kennedy administration to describe the withholding of information from senior officials in order to protect them from repercussions in the event that illegal or unpopular activities by the CIA became public knowledge.

In politics and espionage, deniability refers to the ability of a “powerful player” or intelligence agency to avoid “blowback” by secretly arranging for an action to be taken on their behalf by a third party ostensibly unconnected with the major player.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plausible_deniability

In a Fox News report,

“White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer told “Fox News Sunday” that President Obama learned about the Internal Revenue Service targeting Tea Party groups applying for tax-exempt status only after it had come out in the media but that the administration would make sure “it never happens again.”

Pfeiffer defended Obama’s statement that he didn’t know anything about the incidents or the investigation until he heard about them in the press.

“No president would get involved in an independent IRS investigation,” Pfeiffer said. “It would be wholly inappropriate.”

Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/05/19/obama-senior-adviser-tells-fox-news-sunday-president-learned-about-irs-scandal/#ixzz2UDTynUvR

USA Today:

The president’s chief of staff knew in April that a damning report on the targeting of Tea Party groups was coming — but President Obama did not, the White House said.

“Some matters are not appropriate to convey to him, and this is one of them,” spokesman Jay Carney said.

“You do not intervene in an independent investigation,” Carney said. “There was nothing we could have or should have done about it.”

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2013/05/20/obama-irs-white-house-counsel/2337259/

Right, Carney, you certainly wouldn’t want the president to intervene in an independent investigation.  Or even know about it, for that matter.  The idea that the president was unaware of a scandal of this magnitude, and learned about it like you and I, is preposterous.

I’m trying to picture it. The president, standing there in his presidential pjs at six in the morning, working over a nice soy latte, watching the news, “Hey Jay, this IRS thing they’re talking about, you know anything about this?”

Then, Nancy Pelosi wants to know why the issue should be politicized:

Responding to questions of whether President Obama should be responsible for the misconduct in the agency, Pelosi said, “the president doesn’t know about everything that is going on in every agency of government.” To underscore her point, she noted that the site of the misconduct — an IRS office in Cincinnati — is from House Speaker John Boehner’s home state. “I don’t think you can hold him accountable for that IRS office,” she said.

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-250_162-57585938/irs-official-lois-lerner-placed-on-leave/

Well, sometimes the president is called “The Chief Executive.” Because he’s supposed to be in charge of stuff, like the government.

I’d like to say “Nice try, Nancy” but it’s not. She’s right though, how can you hold him accountable when his own staff asserts he didn’t even know about it.
